 The HKASA provides training courses of different levels to members or individuals attached to our affiliated clubs and who are interested to provide volunteer services in officiating at the HKASA competitions or international competitions.

Swimming Technical Official Course

Description 

Swimming Technical Official Certificate Course provide basic knowledge on Swimming Officials’ Duties, FINA Swimming Rules and Organization of Swimming Competition. Swimming Technical Official Course is the pre-requisite to taking a course leading to the HKASA Intermediate Swimming Technical Official Certificate.

Course Content

-  1 Whole Day Lecture + 4 Practical Lessons + Written test

-  Method of assessment: Attendance, Performance in practical sessions and written test.

Eligibility

1)  Age 16 or over

Priority of acceptance

Priority will be given to those who have recommendation from HKASA affiliated clubs.

Date and Venue

There are usually two classes that will usually be held in February & August. Enrollment will usually take place in January & July.

Intermediate Swimming Technical Official Course

Description 

The course provides further knowledge to candidates of Swimming Rules and Organization of Swimming Competitions. This certificate is the pre-requisite to a senior level in officiating at HKASA Swimming Competitions.

Course Content

-  4-6 Hours Lectures + Practical Sessions + Written test

-  Method of assessment: Attendance, Performance in practical sessions and written test.

Eligibility

1)  Age 18 or over;

2)  Holder of HKASA Swimming Official Course Certificate (Level I).

Priority of acceptance

Priority will be given to those who actively participating in official work at ASA Swimming Competitions and/or have recommendation from HKASA affiliated clubs.

Application For Affiliation Procedure

A) Observer 

Any Club or Organization applying for HKASA Affiliation (Observer status) should send an application letter to the HKASA Office along with the followings by 31st March each year: 

i)     a copy of a valid certificate of Society Ordinance or Company Ordinance

ii)    a copy of the Club’s Constitution / Articles and Memorandum which should state the non-profit making status and the promotion of amateur swimming by the club

iii)   a list of current office bearers and executive committee members

iv)  the correspondence address of the Club

v)   an application fee of HK$2,000 which is non-refundable in any case

The application will be sent to the respective Committee for approval and recommendation to the assembly for decision at the Annual General Meeting.

Once being admitted to affiliation, the Club shall pay an Annual Affiliation Fee of HK$ 500.


B) Full Member (with voting right)

i)     the applicant shall be an Observer of the Association for a period not less than two years before being eligible for full member status.

ii)    Observer club may, after a minimum two-year period, send an application letter to the HKASA Office requesting for ratification to full membership.

iii)   the application will be forwarded to the respective Committee for consideration.  

iv)  the Observer club will be evaluated according to a set of criteria and then recommended to the assembly for decision at the Annual General Meeting.

Rules & Regulations

 (Organized by Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association & Subvented by Leisure and Cultural Services Department)

Date: 2 March 2008 (Sunday)

Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool – Diving Pool

Entry Conditions: - All competitors must be 2007/08 registered athletes of Diving Discipline (DV) of HKASA and register before the registration deadline.
Entries: -  HK$ 25.00 per individual event. (Paid by cash or cheque. Crossed cheque made payable to “HKASA”.)

-  Incomplete / Incorrect information will be rejected and fees will not be refunded.

-  Late entries will not accepted.

-  Statement of Dives (“SD”) must submitted in one original with two copies.

-  Any late, incomplete or incorrect SD will not be accepted. Once there is any incorrectness or discrepancy found in the submitted SD, it will be returned to the Club. The Club must return the corrected SD with HK$ 100 per each amended event by 15:00 immediately in the following day; otherwise deems withdrawal.

-  Diver who received champion, 1st runner-up or 2nd runner-up at Hong Kong Open Diving Championships, Hong Kong Age Group Diving Championships or final result of Hong Kong Diving Competition Series are not eligible to apply.

The draw will be held at HKASA Office. Each participating Club can have one representative to attend the draw. HKASA will do the draw on behalf of any Club without representative and the draw result will not be announced individually.

Rules:

-  FINA rules & HKASA diving rules will apply.

Awards: -  Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
Scratches:

 

-  Scratches must be submitted 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each session.

-  A fine of $20 will be charges for each “no show”. Fine payment should be settled before the next competition entry deadline. Otherwise, entry will not be accepted.

Protest: -  Any protest shall be made in writing to the Appeal Board within 30 minutes following the result announcement of the respective event with an appeal fee of HK$200.

-  Protest will be forward to the Appeal Board of such competition for decision.

-  If the protest is rejected, fee paid will be forfeited to the HKASA.

P.S. In Girl’s and Boy’s 1 metre and 3 metre events, dives with limit of degree of difficulty can choose from the 1-5 dives group, but it must be half somersault or twisting group.

If there are any changes and dispute arises, decision from the HKASA will be final.
