A powerful 8 magnitude earthquake devastated Sichuan on 12th May, killing nearly 35,000 and injuring tens of thousands. While the death toll is expected to rise, those alive are living in distress. Victims in Sichuan need our support desperately. In this connection, HKASA would like to hold a fund-raising swimathon on 24th May 2008. We would like to pledge your support in participating the Swimathon and thus in the rescue work and recovery of Sichuan without hesitation.

Any interested person shall raise funds from his/her sponsors and forward the donations to his/her respective club. Club should collect all the donations with details of donors and amount and submit to the HKASA Office together with the completed master and individual enrollment forms (will be distributed in due course) by 22nd May 2008 at 1700 hour. Please find some information below and other details will be provided in due course.

Date: 24th May 2008 (Saturday)

Venue: Lai Chi Kok Swimming Pool

Time: 12:30 nn – 6:30 pm, divided into 6 hourly sections

A specific timeslot at designed lanes will be allocated to each club (Allocation details will be announced in our website)

Number of participants (swimmers) from each club should not be less than:

- 50 for each venue based club

- 20 for each other clubs

Payment:

- By Cheque, made payable to “ Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association Ltd or HKASA Ltd”, or

- By cash

Award:

- Each participant will receive Certificate of Participation

- Each club will receive Certificate of Appreciation

- Individual: Certificate of Merit will be awarded to the Top Ten Individual Fund Raiser of each category (categorization will be announced at the briefing session)

- Club: Certificate of Merit will be awarded to the Top Ten Club Fund Raiser of each Club
