Opening hours of HKASA Office from 23 March to 3 April 2020

In view of the recent development of COVID-19 and to reduce the risk of community spread, this is to inform you that the lunch break of HKASA office staff will be changed to 1200-1300 from 23 March to 3 April 2020, thus the opening hours of the office will be from 1000 to 1200 and 1300 to 1700.

Thank you for your kind attention and sorry for the inconvenient that may cause.

Passed Away of Hon Arnaldo de Oliveira SALES, GBM, JP, Permanent Honorary President of the HKASA

It is with a heavy heart to advise that the HKASA Founding President, the Honourable Arnaldo de Oliveira SALES, GBM, JP, peacefully pass away on 6 March, 2020.  Mr. Sales has  been the driving force of the Association for so many years and it is with his grand vision of promoting aquatics sports that leads to the success of the Association today.

With the leadership of Mr. SALES, the founder of HKASA,  we took part for the first time in the Olympic Games in Helsinki 1952 with four swimmers. He promoted and developed aquatic sports, including Swimming, Waterpolo, Diving, Artistic Swimming, Open Water Swimming and Masters Swimming, raised the standard of the sports and nurtured elite athletes.

Mr. SALES was the Chairman of Commonwealth Games Federation in 1990 for 4 years and was one the founder of Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China.  He was not only dedicated in promoting swimming in Hong Kong but also endeavor in spreading the Olympic Spirit and Olympism in Asia.

The Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association (HKASA) is deeply saddened by the loss and express our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
